The CryoBan rifle, manufactured by Loronar Corporation, was a model of rifle made in the tradition of Ulban Arms and several other manufacturing companies who have weaponized CryoBan technology. Capable of flash freezing targets, the CryoBan rifle made inorganic substances particularly brittle. Mercenaries engaging battle droids often brought at least one such rifle to make the droids vulnerable to allied attacks. The rifle was also popular among bounty hunters, firefighters, and scientists.[1]
Behind the scenes
The CryoBan rifle was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Gadgets and Gear, a 2019 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars Roleplaying products.[1] It was originally introduced in the Star Wars Legends continuity in Star Wars: The Old Republic,[2] a 2011 massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by BioWare Austin and released by LucasArts.[3]
