Collimator shafts were components in superlaser weapons. The DS-1 Orbital Battle Station included a collimator shaft, as did several of its previous smaller-scale prototypes in Hypori and Malpaz. Exfoliating doonium and dolovite as found in the Legacy worlds Wadi Raffa and Samovar were primarily employed to insulate the cores of large hypermatter reactors and to dissipate heat in collimator shafts.[1]
