"Close your eyes. Your eyes can deceive you. We must not trust them. Connect to the Force. Have faith. Think of diving into a great ocean. Give yourself over to its weight, its stillness, its uncertainty. And tell me what comes to your mind."
―Jedi Master Sol's final lesson for this youngling and their peers[3]

Chippin Jat was a Celantes Jedi Initiate[2] who was a part of the Jedi Order during the High Republic Era.[3]

Biography

Chippin Jat was a Force-sensitive Celantes who was initiated in the Jedi Order within four years of his birth[2] in 136 BBY[1]. His parents were eager to have him tested and trained at the Jedi Temple, proudly delivering him to the planet Coruscant personally instead of waiting for a Jedi seeker to come.[2] By 132 BBY[4] he was placed in a clan who were sometimes trained by the human Jedi Master Sol, being the last group of younglings to receive his tutelage[3] before he was killed on Brendok by the Stranger.[5]

Personality and traits

Chippin Jat was a Celantes child[2] with orange skin and black eyes. Like his fellow students, he was disciplined, yet expressed an enthusiasm in learning how to better understand the nature of the Force.[3]

Equipment

Like his fellow Jedi initiates, the Chippin Jat[2] dressed in standard Jedi apparel, including a light tan tunic, a brown belt, and brown boots.[3]

Behind the scenes

Chippin Jat made his debut in the first episode of the 2024 television series, Star Wars: The Acolyte, directed by Leslye Headland.[3] His design originated from concept artist by Jake Lunt Davies for Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, going unused until it was recycled for The Acolyte.[6] Creatures effects artist Robert Skene worked on the mould for Jat as part of Neal Scanlan's team,[7] while Martin Rezard worked on Jat's prosthetics.[8] His name was revealed within the Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide[2] which released in select countries on June 5, 2025.[9]

Everything was a huge team effort with everyone at CFX, and it was a dream come true, getting to be a part of it. My contribution varied from character to character, including clay walling, matrix molds, drafting cores, processing 3d printed molds, molding prosthetics and more, working alongside the fantastic team in Moldshop under Kenny Wilson. #starwars #theacolyte #cfx #creaturecantina #moldmaking #mouldmaking" (screenshot)
