C1-940 was a C1-series astromech droid optimized to function in the permafrost desert of Jedha and its spiritual nature.[1]
Behind the scenes
This droid was a toy made available exclusively at Disney's D23 convention starting on September 9th, 2022. It was later made available internationally and on ShopDisney.com's UK website. It's coloring is inspired by Mickey Mouse's costume from "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" segment of the animated film Fantasia. The droid's name comes from the film's 1940 release date.[2]
"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" also inspired other Droid Factory toys, with Mickey's hat in the film made available for its customizable droid figures, as well as its R4-D23 and R5-D23 figures.
