R5-D23 was an R5 series astromech droid operating in marketplace of Lothal's Capital City. He was a typical R5, but also wore a blue cone-shaped hat with star and moon shapes in its design that served as auxiliary shielding. He included a Burtt acoustic signaller.[1]
Behind the scenes
This droid was a toy made available exclusively from Disney during the company's D23 Expo in July, 2017. D23 is the company's official fan club named for the year of the company's founding, 1923. His hat is patterned after a hat worn by Mickey Mouse in "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" segment of the animated film Fantasia. The hat was also made available for Droid Factory's customizable figures, and was included with its R4-D23 figure.
