Buoys were a variety of navigational technology used in realspace for a variety of purposes. Navigation buoys were utilized to mark hyperlanes through hyperspace.[4] Distress buoys emitted distress signals, acting as a form of emergency beacon.[3] Docking buoys guided starships through docking stations,[2] while missile buoys provided targeting assistance when firing missiles.[1] Some buoys were utilized terrestrially or within starships themselves, such as emergency light buoys, which provided light inside of Hapan Battle Dragons in cases of low power.[5] Hyperspace navigation buoys were not physical buoys, but holographic projections that aided in navigation through hyperspace.[6]
