"A village on the little red moon over Buna. They had pirates. The local lord sent some of his most trusted Jedi, but the reports stopped. He sent more Jedi, and they found no one left. No pirates, no Jedi, no villagers. Nothing at all."
―A woman[1]

Buna was a terrestrial astronomical object that was orbited by a small, red moon. Twenty years after the Sith rebellion, as several individuals walked the road to Osou spaceport on the Outer Rim Territories planet Genbara, a woman carrying an apothecary chest shared a rumor about bodies going missing on Buna's moon. Allegedly, the local lord had sent some of his trusted Jedi to deal with pirates in a village there; when more Jedi were sent after the reports stopped, they found that all of the pirates, Jedi, and villagers had vanished from Buna's moon and there were no bones to send to the families. While disregarded as hearsay by one of the people in the group, the woman insisted it was true because she had heard it on the HoloNet.[1]

Behind the scenes

Buna was mentioned in the 2021 non-canon novel Ronin: A Visions Novel, by Emma Mieko Candon.[1] Like all names in the novel, Buna's name is comprised of phonemes used in the Japanese language.[2]
