The Brotherhood of Cognizance was a religious order based on Naboo, that consisted of 20 hermits and built a secluded abbey on the shores of the Lake Country. It was a contemplative order seeking enlightenment from studying and worshipping art. Centuries prior to[1] 22 BBY,[2] the Brotherhood's Pontifex would regularly legalise marriages, a law that was still in order during the last decades of the Galactic Republic. The Pontifex Maxiron Agolerga legalised the marriage between Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker[1] in 22 BBY,[2] after the practice hasn't been performed in 300 years.[1]
