Serving the Republic

CC-2201 was the designation of a clone[2] of the human male bounty hunter Jango Fett, who was created on the planet Kamino in order to serve as a clone trooper in the Grand Army of the Republic[1] and took on the name Bow.[2] In 19 BBY,[5] during the final stages of the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Bow served in the 501st Legion and was part of[4] the battalion[6] created when Jedi General Anakin Skywalker divided the unit in two; one unit,[7] of which Bow was part,[4] journeyed to the Republic capital planet Coruscant to reinforce the besieged world under Skywalker[7] and Clone Commander Appo's command[4] whereas the other half—the 332nd Division—traveled to the planet Mandalore under the command of Clone Commander Rex so as to assist Skywalker's former Padawan Ahsoka Tano in capturing the rogue Sith Lord Maul.[7]
Following the engagement, Appo's troopers remained stationed on Coruscant as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, secretly the Dark Lord of the Sith known as Darth Sidious, activated Order 66 to all forces and branded the Jedi Order as traitors.[4] On the order of General Anakin Skywalker, who had secretly become the Sith apprentice Darth Vader, the 501st forces on Coruscant laid siege to the Jedi Grand Temple in Operation: Knightfall. Bow was among[2] the hundreds to thousands[8] of clone troopers who took part in the operation.[2]
The surviving troopers, including Bow, fire upon the Jedi Padawan
The 501st sacked the Temple, killing all of its inhabitants.[4] Inside, the 501st troopers worked in squads to hunt down targets with overwhelming firepower while Vader killed stragglers[9] and fires ignited into a large blaze. Witnessing the unfolding situation, Republic Senator Bail Prestor Organa travelled to the Jedi Temple in his airspeeder and set down on a landing pad. A clone[4] unit under the command of Clone Sergeant Fox, which was tasked with guarding certain entrances and exits,[10] confronted the senator.[4] Bow and his superior officer, Commander Appo, were also present[2] as part of Fox's clone contingent,[10] with Appo ordering the senator to leave. As Organa left, Jedi Padawan Zett Jukassa ambushed the group of clones, seriously injuring Appo and taking down six other clones before coming under fire.[4] Bow fired the fatal shot,[2] and Sergeant Fox ordered his troops to let Organa flee.[4]
Imperial service
Following the start of the Great Jedi Purge and the end of the Clone Wars, the Republic was reorganized into the First Galactic Empire, with Palpatine as its Galactic Emperor and Lord Vader as his emissary. Several weeks later, Vader specifically selected Bow and Appo to join Shadow Platoon, a twenty-strong clone unit that were to accompany him on a personal mission to unlock secrets of the dark side of the Force. Bow served as Appo's second-in-command of the unit.[2]
Behind the scenes
Bow first appeared in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, the final film of the prequel trilogy,[4] which was released on May 19, 2005.[11] His scene was filmed on a raised set against a blue screen on Monday, July 28, 2003 on Stage 5 at Shepperton Studios.[12] Like all clones in the film, he was voiced by Temuera Morrison[4] and generated using CGI.[12] Bow's name, as well as his designation CC-2201, was established in canon storytelling more than twenty years later with the release of Master of Evil, a novel authored by Adam Christopher and released on November 11, 2025.
Master of Evil establishes that Bow was the clone trooper that fatally shot Zett Jukassa[2] as seen in the events of Revenge of the Sith,[4] however, Star Wars: Force Collection that released in 2013 yet considered as part of canon credited Fox as the one who shot the fatal blaster bolt on Jukassa.[10] As the novel is the more recent source, this article assumes that Master of Evil is the correct source.
