- "You're bluffing, Jabot. But I'll show you who's the better Helcos player. I'll match your wager and I'll triple it."
- ―The Borlorian Merex
The Borlorians were a sentient species[1] originating from[3] the Borloria system in the Expansion Region's Dentari sector.[2] Members of the species were able to sneer. During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Merex was a Galactic Basic Standard–speaking Borlorian who had a years-long rivalry with the alien[1] gambler and con artist[4] Jabot. At one point, the two were the last two remaining players at a game of Helcos. Jabot—who was communicating via an implant communicator with his partner Dereth, who fed him information on Merex's cards—manipulated Merex into matching his bet of ten thousand credits and then tripling the wager. After Jabot ultimately revealed his superior hand of cards, the Borlorian howled in discontent, resulting in glasses around the room they were in shattering.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Borlorians were introduced in Galladinium's Fantastic Technology, a 1995 sourcebook authored by Rick D. Stuart for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[1]
