Bonegnawers were a type of carnivorous bird of prey that lived on the desert planet Tatooine. Large, airborne creatures, they possessed strong beaks that could crush both rocks and bone. Bonegnawers targeted relatively large prey, and were known for stalking their target before consuming it on the spot. Bonegnawer parents would then bring the prey's bones back to their young at their nest, where they ate and shared the marrow with their offspring.[1]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, bonegnawers appeared in the 2024 Massive Entertainment video game, Star Wars Outlaws.[1] The creatures originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they were first mentioned in the 1976 novelization of the film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope by Alan Dean Foster.[2]
