The grandfather of the pilots Bly Tevin and Lina was an E'roni man. At some point during their younger days, they served in the military of their homeworld—the Outer Rim planet E'ronoh—to combat the forces of the neighboring planet Eiram. The man owned a bane blade—a ceremonial sword carried by every E'roni soldier—which they eventually passed down to Tevin.[1]

By 382 BBY,[2] Tevin enlisted in E'ronoh's fleet to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and fight on behalf of their family. While on a supply escort mission[1] that year,[2] he thought about why he had joined the fight against Eiram on his homeworld's behalf, reflecting that he wanted to finish the struggle his grandfather had participated in as a young man. During the endeavor, when Tevin struggled to reset the controls of his sabotaged devilfighter, the pilot used his grandfather's dully edged blade to strike a port on his navigation panel, causing the vessel to power down.[1]

Behind the scenes

Bly Tevin's grandfather was mentioned in Convergence, a novel written by Zoraida Córdova as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase II[1] that was published on November 22, 2022.[3] Prior to its release, the grandfather's mention was included in a preview for the novel released on the official Penguin Random House website[4] on October 4 of that year.[3]
