Asajj Ventress (pictured) listened to the portion of Dooku's journal mentioning a blatterborn.
Blatterborn were a type of creature.[1] In 90 BBY,[2] they were on display at the Dianectric Menagerie during a celebration on the planet Serenno and observed by Jedi Initiate Dooku and his sister, Lady Jenza.[1] When celebrating the return of his cousin Crakka, Jabba the Hutt had blatterborn served in his palace.[3]
Dooku later recounted the incident in a holo-letter to Jenza.[1] Around 23 BBY,[4] Dooku displayed a holographic data disk that detailed the events around meeting his sister, including their observation of the blatterborn, to his recently-recruited Sith assassin, Asajj Ventress. The pair listened to the recording, after which Dooku gave Ventress several more disks for her investigation into Jenza's location.[1]
A blatterborn could be found on the planet Jakku[5] by the time between 34 ABY and 35 ABY.[6] At one point, the blatterborn sat on the foot of the human Jakku scavenger Dex, which resulted in him crying, an incident later recalled by the Kessurian Leesa Chaffni.[5]

Blatterborn were first mentioned in a flashback sequence in the audio drama Dooku: Jedi Lost, written by Cavan Scott[1] and published on April 30, 2019.[7] The spelling of Blatterborn was confirmed by the audio drama's script release[8] on October 1 of the same year.[7]
