- "With the blast shield down, I can't even see. How am I supposed to fight?"
- ―Luke Skywalker
Blast shields were a type of shield.[1] The term blast shield could refer to a large, handheld shield, such as the M3 Bulwark Blast Shield used by the clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic,[3] or the blast shield on a helmet that covered the wearer's face.[2]
During the Clone Wars, clone troopers used M3 Bulwark Blast Shields at the Battle of Ringo Vinda[3] in 19 BBY.[4] By 34 ABY,[5] the EGL power droid B0-LT had illegally modified itself with a blast shield which, along with the droid's reprogramming and evasion of arrest, resulted in a 525 credit bounty being placed on its head while it hid on the planet Batuu.[1]
