Biological science droids were one of the four primary subgroups of class one droids, along with physical science droids and mathematics droids. Biological science droids were designed for and tasked with the study of biological life in the galaxy. The widely-used medical droid group was in fact a subgroup of biological science droids, but due to their prominence they were often listed separately in droid catalogs.
