The BioTech Implant was a type of cybernetic implant manufactured by BioTech Industries. It was similar in appearance to an eye.[1]
Behind the scenes
The BioTech Implant first appeared in the current canon 2015 mobile video game Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, developed by EA Capital Games. In the game they are used as "Gear" to upgrade characters. There exist nine tiers of the BioTech Implant, designated Mk 1 to Mk 9, as well as "Salvage", "Prototype" and "Component" versions.[1] Like the other gear items, it was modeled by Brittany Hermann,[2] with additional help by two other artists.[3] The Biotech implant originated in the 2003 Legends video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, developed by BioWare,[4] which was later bought by EA in 2007.[5]
