Bev Kranti clam

Bev Kranti clams were a species of clam from the planet Chandel that produced valuable pearls over the course of 150 years.

Description

Bev Kranti clams could be found buried beneath the oceans^[1] on the planet^[2] Chandel. They were small with a grey pitted shell. A clam could produce several pearls at once but it would take 150 years which made the pearls very valuable to the galaxy.^[1]

History

In 3 ABY^[3] the Mon Calamari Danka Orsato brokered the sell of a Bev Kranti clam from the Pyke Syndicate to the Ashiga Clan. When Danka got word that the Pyke's were instead going to sell the clam to Crimson Dawn she recruited the scoundrel Kay Vess to retrieve it from the Pykes. However the Pykes had not actually intended to sell the clam to the Dawn and instead were trying to con them.^[1]

Vess and her companion ND-5 approached the meeting which occured in the Mirage region of the moon Toshara as it was starting and stated that they were there to collect on behalf of Danka. Realizing the Pyles were trying to double deal, the Crimson Dawn representatives began a fire fight. The fight resulted in the death of all the members of the Pykes and Crimson Dawn that were present. After surviving the fight Vess and ND-5 searched the speeders which directed them to the location of the clam, which was in a starship workshop nearby.^[1]

Vess proceeded to enter the workshop and retrieve the clam. After which she contacted Danka who directed her to meet at Daruda Diner in the town Jaunta's Hope on Toshara. Once there she proceeded down stairs to the diner's speakeasy and discovered that Danka was selling the clam to an Imperial officer. Vess was able to palm a single pearl while the officer inspected the clam. The officer demanded a bribe from Vess otherwise she would call in an alert for her. After the exchange Danka asked to meet her at Makal's Gambling Parlor in the capital city Mirogana. When Vess arrived, Danka revealed that she knew that Vess had taken one of the pearls and she could broker a sale to Crimson Dawn or the Ashiga Clan.^[1]

Behind the scenes

Bev Kranti clams first appeared in 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws which was published by Ubisoft and developed by Massive Entertainment. The quest has two choices for the player to decide which changes how things progress. The first is whether to pay the bribe to the Imperial officer. If the player doesn't pay it, they will be assigned a wanted level of four and will have to evade the Empire. The second choice is if and who to sell the pearl to. The player can choose to keep the pearl which sells for 2000 credits, or give it to one of the two syndicates in exchange for increased reputation with the chosen syndicate.^[1]
