Bev Kranti pearls were a type of pearl produced by Bev Kranti clams from the planet Chandel. Bev Kranti clams took 150 years to produce several pearls at once which were considered quite valuable. The peals had an iridescent color that was almost invisible to human eyes, however Mon Calamari could see the vibrant pulsing and shifting color of the pearl. In 3 ABY,[2] a pearl could sell for 2000 credits.[1]
During 3 ABY, the scoundrel Kay Vess was tasked with retrieving a Bev Kranti clam from the Pyke Syndicate on the Outer Rim Territories moon Toshara. After aquiring the clam, Vess brought it to her contract broker Danka Orsato who proceeded to sell it to an Imperial officer. However Vess was able to palm a pearl from the clam before the Imperial officer took possession of it. After the exchange Danka requested Vess meet her at Makal's Gambling Parlor in the capital city Mirogana. When Vess arrived, Danka revealed that she knew that Vess had taken one of the pearls and she offered to broker the sale of it to Crimson Dawn or the Ashiga Clan.[1]
Behind the scenes
Bev Kranti clams first appeared in 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws which was published by Ubisoft and developed by Massive Entertainment. The quest involving the clam has two choices for the player to decide which changes how things progress. The first is whether to pay a bride to the imperial officer. If the player doesn't pay it they will be assigned a wanted level of four and will have to evade the Empire. The second is what to do with the pearl, they can choose to keep the pearl which sells for 2000 credits, or give it to one of the two syndicates in exchange for increased reputation with the chosen syndicate.[1]
