- "This was simply a training mission. A test. To see how you'd fare against different styles of combat."
- ―Darth Sidious to Darth Maul, after the latter's victory
The battle for Moonbender was an attack on Moonbender Colony, a remote colony on an Outer Rim moon, by the Sith apprentice Darth Maul. Having been tasked by his master, Darth Sidious, to kill the Remainders—a group of former bounty hunters who ran the colony—Maul landed on the moon, initially sending the Remainders an order to vacate supposedly from the Galactic Republic. After the order was revealed to be false, Maul began his attack on the colony, breaching the entrance despite General Zandloss's efforts. Maul defeated each of his foes as he fought his way to the colony's medcenter, where he killed Doctor Korvik, the last Remainder. Maul reported his success to Sidious, learning that the only reason he had been ordered to capture Moonbender was to test his abilities against the Remainders. Although the Remainders were defeated, at least one resident, a Twi'lek, survived by hiding in a vent in the medcenter.[2]
