Banas was a rugged planet with a cold environment[3] that was located in the Outer Rim Territories[1] and on the frontier of the Galactic Empire's territory[3] during the Galactic Civil War. Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa traveled to Banas to investigate if the planet was suitable for a new base for the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Banas was also the homeworld of a sentient species.[1]
