"This is the best banana split ever!"
―A First Order stormtrooper — 20?cb=20250116042720 ▶️ (file info)[1]

A banana split was a type of ice cream made with bananas[1] that was edible by humans.[2] The ice cream was popular among First Order stormtroopers stationed aboard the Mega-class Star Dreadnought Supremacy. Shortly before the Battle of Oetchi[1] of 34 ABY,[3] a First Order stormtrooper prepared and served the dessert during a banana split party held for a large gathering of troops. The dessert featured a fifty-foot-long banana and a multi-colored arrangement of ice cream topped with various foods, drawing praise from the stormtroopers, with one suggesting they have it every Sunday.[1]

When the celebration was abruptly interrupted by Resistance forces launching a surprise assault on the Supremacy, an AT-ST walker piloted by[1] the BB unit[4] BB-8 slipped on the oversized banana peel left from the party, toppling onto the banana split and causing disorder among the First Order ranks. The incident inadvertently aided the Resistance in turning the tide of the battle.[1]

Behind the scenes

A banana split appeared in the 2019 non-canon LEGO animated short film "Banana Split Party," which was featured on the official LEGO YouTube channel as part of a fan storytelling initiative.[1] In the real world, a banana split is a classic American dessert typically made with a split banana and scoops of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream, topped with whipped cream, nuts, and cherries.[5]
