- "Bring them, the leader will know."
- ―A Balnab referring to C-3PO and R2-D2
The Balnab were the inhabitants of the planet Balnab.
History
The Balnab were made up of members of a tentacled faced species[3] who survived after their starship,[2] a Gozanti-class cruiser,[4] crashed in the canyons on the planet Balnab,[3] in the relatively recent past[2] compared to the times of the Clone Wars.[3] The surviving crew became the lone intelligence on the primeval world, thougth intelligence was a relative term.[2] The Balnab denizens were hoodwinked into cowing before the towering holographic form of Albee Dewaw,[3] the iron-fisted dictator of Balnab.[2]
By the time of the Clone Wars, they had inhabited a region on the planet, used Tee-muss as mounts and hunted local Hestens.[3] In 20 BBY,[5] during one hunting trip, they came across the droids C-3PO and R2-D2. They brought the droids to their residence, however their leader became furious and killed one of the Balnab. After R2-D2 found that Pit Droids were controlling a holographic Dewaw,[3] the enraged[4] Balnab attacked and destroyed the droids' control room, creating a large explosion that possibly engulfed the inhabitants.[3]
