"No problem. I can handle this. Easy as Balarian pie!"

Balarian pie[2] was a type of pie.[1] In 34 ABY,[3] when the human Kazuda Xiono was tasked with briefly running the Office of Acquisitions[1] aboard the supertanker fuel depot Colossus,[4] he confidently remarked that the job would be as "easy as Balarian pie."[1]

Behind the scenes

"Valeria indeed came from the plot summary mentioned; I suspect I checked it shortly after the episode aired, recorded it in my notes and never saw the correction. May delete it or it may live on."
―Jason Fry[5]

The Valeria system was created by Jason Fry in reference to Balarian pie, which was first introduced in Star Wars Resistance's first season.

Balarian pie was first mentioned in "Dangerous Business,"[1] the thirteenth episode of the first season of the animated television series Star Wars Resistance,[6] which aired on January 20, 2019.[7] The mention was first included in a preview for the episode released on the official Star Wars YouTube channel on January 16, 2019.[8] The spelling of the pie's name was confirmed in the episode's subtitles.[2] In "Every Time Kaz Falls and Yells in Star Wars Resistance," an installment of the Star Wars By the Numbers web series on StarWarsKids.com, Balarian pie is mistakenly identified as "Volarian pie."[9]

Author Jason Fry created the Valeria system as the origin point of Balarian pie, based on a misspelling,[5] and introduced it in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[10] on June 24, 2025. Both works were authored by Jason Fry.[11] Following the appendix's release, Fry worked with contributors from the free-to-edit, unofficial online Star Wars encyclopedia known as Wookieepedia to confirm the intended origins of several star systems created for the appendix.[5]

One such system was the Valeria system, which the author confirmed originated from[5] a January 21, 2019 revision of the plot summary for "Dangerous Business" on Wookieepedia, which misspelled Balarian pie as "Valerian pie."[12] He further clarified that he had likely checked the plot summary shortly after it was posted and never updated his notes, indicating that the Valeria system may be removed from future versions of the appendix or may continue to remain present.[5] Due to the aforementioned error, this article refrains from assuming the Valeria system is the canonical origin point of Balarian pie.
