The Badlands was an area[1] of desert[2] the Jundland Wastes on the desert planet Tatooine. The settlement known as Fort Tusken, which faced numerous attacks from Tusken Raiders, was established on the edge of the Badlands around eight decades before the rise of the Galactic Empire[1] in 19 BBY.[3]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, the Badlands were mentioned in "Inhabitants of Tatooine," an article published in the "Weapons & Uniforms" department of Star Wars Helmet Collection 11, a magazine published by De Agostini[1] on June 1, 2016.[4] They were then depicted as part of a map that showed the location of Fort Tusken in the reference book Star Wars: Complete Locations, which was released on September 27, 2016.[5] The Badlands originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they appeared in the 2002 Rainbow Studios video game Star Wars: Racer Revenge.[6]

From these datapoints, it can be calculated that the series began publication at the end of September 2008. Therefore, it can be determined that Star Wars: The Official Starships & Vehicles Collection 11 was published in approximately February 2009.
