The B1-SAL Probe Droid was a model of floating cube-shaped probe droid available during the Third Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire.[1]

These droids were plated in a red color. The droid's had a photoreceptor featuring an orange ring. It also moved utilizing a built-in repulsorlift.[1]

Behind the scenes

Concept artist Bradley W. Lewis designed the B1-SAL Probe Droid for the "Inspired By" Andor tie-in content[2] in BioWare's 2011 massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Star Wars: The Old Republic.[1] Its design was heavily inspired by the droid B2EMO from Disney+ television series Andor,[3] which itself was designed by concept artist Jake Lunt Davies, with help from animatronic designer Josh Lee[4] and creature designer Neal Scanlan.[5]

Some The Old Republic players were mistakenly gifted a B1-SAL Probe Droid minipet[6] instead of a JR-4 Recon Droid during the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor celebration login event that ran between April 28 and May 3, 2023, though this was later amended.[7]
