"Stories have emerged of a supership disguised as a space rock. I'm not going to throw them out, but I emphasize that our source inside Patriim is unreliable."
―Haxen Delto, in a report to Airen Cracken[1]

The Asteroid Dreadnought was a rumored Imperial Navy dreadnought that was camouflaged as a space rock during the reign of the Galactic Empire.[1] In 1 BBY,[2] Colonel Haxen Delto of Rebel Alliance Intelligence Service wrote a report to Chief of Rebel Intelligence General Airen Cracken on Imperial superweapon projects, and included a section in the report regarding the rumors of the dreadnought.[1]

In the report, Delto stated that he would not dismiss the rumors of the starship, despite noting that the Rebel Alliance's source inside Patriim was unreliable. The report was included in The Rebel Files, a data repository containing a non-electronic copy of sensitive information which would be uncovered decades later on the Mid Rim world of Durkteel.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Asteroid Dreadnought was first mentioned in the boxed set and reference book Star Wars: The Rebel Files, which was released in 2017 and authored by Daniel Wallace.[1] The dreadnought originated in Star Wars Legends as the Eye of Palpatine, introduced in the novel Children of the Jedi that released in 1995.[3]

  2. Star Wars: The Rebel Files establishes the report mentioning the Asteroid Dreadnought was created between the Alliance to Restore the Republic learning about the Galactic Empire having a superweapon and the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The fourth arc of Andor Season 2, which takes place in 1 BBY per the reasoning here, depicts the Alliance learning about the Empire's superweapon. Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to 1 BBY. Therefore, the report must have been created in 1 BBY.
