For other uses, see Old Quarter.

The Ancient Quarter was a historical preservation district in the Gungan capital city Otoh Gunga on the planet Naboo. It encompassed the original foundations laid by Boss Gallo over the foundations of Spearhead, an ancient fortress city. Spearhead had been the home of the warlord Boss Rogoe, whom Gallo had defeated at the end of a conflict between the warring Gungan tribes millennia before the Imperial Era.[1]

The Ancient quarter contained ancient buildings and machinery, which were maintained by a small but devoted group of volunteer preservationists. Each structure, street, platform, and support membrane contained historical significance for the Gungans, and as such it was a popular tourist destination for Gungans from all over Naboo. The residents of the Ancient Quarter were among the most prestigious and expensive in Otoh Gunga, and many families lived in homes built by their ancestors in previous centuries. The existing residents would clash with newer residents as well as visiting Gungans from distant cities.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Ancient Quarter was mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in Nexus of Power, a 2016 sourcebook for Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Ancient Quarter was first mentioned in Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, a 2001 reference book by Kristin Lund.[2]
