An alta-wave calibration device was a type of calibration device with a flat gray base and a hooked arm on a stand at one end of the base.[1] When the Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his allies visited the junkshop owned by the junk dealer Watto in the city of Mos Espa on the planet Tatooine in search of a T-14 hyperdrive generator[1] in 32 BBY,[2] an illegal alta-wave calibration device was sat by the store's back door.[1]
Behind the scenes
An alta-wave calibration device was first mentioned in the 2000 reference book Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Episode I, which was written by Kristin Lund and illustrated by Richard Chasemore and Hans Jenssen. The illustration of Watto's junkshop from that book,[1] including the alta-wave calibration device, then appeared as an area where players would search out specific items in the[3] 2012[4] non-canon video game Star Wars Galactic Spy.[3]
