The Alpha Droid was a type of viper probe droid created for the Galactic Empire by the Rodian droidsmith Gedeek Obaz on Akiva. Gedeek designed the droid after he was arrested on Canto Bight and forced to work for the Empire. Due to his lack of a Core World education, Gedeek felt he had to prove himself to his colleagues in the Empire; as a result, the droid he designed was faster and smarter that other viper droids. It could also hunt in packs, making it a dangerous new weapon for the Empire.[1] By 3 ABY,[2] Gedeek had begun to regret designing the droid, and teamed up with a rebel group. He later recruited his former partner Kay Vess to help infiltrate Kassina Outpost and help him reprogram the Alpha Droid and hand it over to the rebellion. After Gedeek reprogrammed the droid, Vess escorted it to the base's hangar to be handed over to the rebels of Typhoon Squadron. Along the way to the hangar, the Alpha Droid took control of its fellow viper droids. When the group reached the hangar, a large firefight broke out with the rebels and the droids being victorious.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Alpha Droid appeared in the main quest "The Viper" in the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft.[1]
