An accu-accelerator was a component[1] from the ignition system[2] in a capital ship's ion drive. The Jawas of the planet Tatooine scavenged accu-accelerators from the wrecks of starships, and used them as an integral part of their custom-built Jawa ionization blasters.[1] Combined with a droid restraining bolt, the accu-accelerator was part of a specially built ion accelerator.[2] When an ionization blaster was fired, it activated the restraining bolt, broadcasting the droid shut-down command which was amplified by the accu-accelerator.[1]
