An ablative foam dispenser was a device that could be installed on a starship to protect its cargo by deploying ablative foam.[1]

In 3 ABY,[2] Kay Vess paid a mechanic a thousand credits and provided them with ten cargo signature scramblers to install ablative foam dispensers in the hold of the Trailblazer, her EML-850 light freighter.[1]

Behind the scenes

Ablative foam dispenses first appeared in the "A Pirate's Fortune" expansion for the Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws,[1] which was released on May 15, 2025.[3] They were mentioned in the reactive plating ship upgrade that players could purchase for their ship that would reduce the damage taken by fragile cargo during smuggling contracts.[1]
