"Round up the citizens. All of them!"
"Roger roger."
Darts D'Nar talking to an AAT Driver Battle Droid[4]

AAT Driver Battle Droids,[5] also known as AAT Driver Droids,[1] jungle battle droids,[6] and as Kashyyyk Battle Droids,[7] were a variant of the B1-series battle droid used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. They had tactical camouflage markings that both allowed them to blend into jungles[6] and designated their role as tank operators. Droids of this model were deployed in Armored Assault Tanks.[2]

Characteristics

AAT driver droids were modified B1-series battle droids, designed to pilot Armored Assault Tanks. They were equipped with specialized programming that improved their reaction times and helped them detect enemies and obstacles more quickly than the standard B1 units. The driver droids were also given combat programming. Driver droids had green flares so they could be quickly identified.[1]

Behind the scenes

The AAT Driver battle droid first appeared in "Ambush,"[2] the first episode of the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars first season, which originally aired on October 3, 2008.[8] They appeared as "jungle battle droids" in DLC for Star Wars Battlefront II.[6] "Battle Droids and Other Droids of War" later confirmed that AAT Drivers and jungle battle droids were one and the same.[9]
