The #A7.5 Range Trooper Boots were a model of magnetomic gription boots, specialized magnetic boots utilized worn by the Galactic Empire's range troopers over their vambrace armor. The heavy-duty gription boots were magnetized, allowing Vandor's range troopers on security duty to inspect the conveyex whilst the transport was in motion.
Description
#A7.5 Range Trooper Boots were a model of magnetomic gription boots utilized by Imperial range troopers assigned to[4] the 20-T Railcrawler conveyex transport operating on the planet Vardos.[5]
The boots were composed of standard armored footwear similar to the one worn by stormtroopers, but surrounded with servomotors on each ankle[6] needed to operate the boots while the powerful magnets on their soles were on,[7] causing the boots to normally weigh 4.5 kilograms each.[6] The boots were linked to an interface control, which was typically located on a trooper's vambrace armor plate[8] and could instantly activate both boots' mag-seals with the press of a button, visually indicated by twin lights on each shin. A handle at the front shin allowed troopers to carry their boots with ease when not using them. Although the oversized servomotor and magnet assemblies appeared rough at first glance, they were designed to allow for ease of maintenance in the troopers' harsh operating deployments away from any dedicated technicians.[6]
History
In 10 BBY,[9] captain Denwade Banevans and his squad of range troopers utilized magnetomic boots as part of their standard equipment. During guard duty on a conveyex carrying a cargo of coaxium fuel they were attacked by a group of smugglers attempting to steal the coaxium and successfully utilized their boots to stay secure on the train and fight them off; however the smugglers detached a carriage and removed it on board an Y-45 armored transport hauler.[2]
