The 4th Sector Army was a Sector Army in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. The 21st Nova Corps, led by Clone Marshal Commander Bacara, was part of the 4th Sector Army. Sector Armies from the 1st Sector Army to the 6th Sector Army, including the 4th, were reserve commands.
Description
Personnel of the 4th Sector Army included the Galactic Marines and their leader, Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi.
The 4th Sector Army, as a Sector Army in the Grand Army of the Republic, was responsible for the defense of their specific area within the galaxy. At the start of the Clone Wars, the Grand Army was segmented into ten Systems Armies which were in turn composed of two Sector Armies each. As a result, the 4th Sector Army belonged to the same Systems Army as another Sector Army did. The 4th Sector Army served as a reserve command along with those numbered from the 1st Sector Army up to the 6th Sector Army.[1] As a Sector Army, it contained a total of 147,456 clone troopers organized into four corps,[3] including one being the 21st Nova Corps.[2] Like other Sector Armies, the 4th Sector Army had one of twenty Galactic Republic Haven-class medical stations towed to them,[4] and was attached to one of the twenty numbered fleets of the Republic Navy.[7]
History
The 4th Sector Army, through its subordinate unit the 21st Nova Corps, participated in various engagements during the Clone Wars[8] against the battle droid armies of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[9] Famously ferocious, the 21st—or the "Galactic Marines," as the unit came to be known[10]—were led to many victories by Jedi General Ki-Adi-Mundi,[11] who commanded the unit alongside Clone Commander Bacara.[9] Bacara and Mundi fought together in many battles.[12]
The 21st Nova Corps was lead against the Separatist Droid Army throughout the Clone Wars until the execution of Order 66 during the battle for Mygeeto.
The 21st participated in the Orto Plutonia campaign and the Rhen Var campaign, both victories,[8] before participating in the Mygeeto Campaign during the Outer Rim Sieges. In that engagement, known as the Fourth Battle of Mygeeto, the 21st Nova Corps, launched an assault on Separatist forces on the surface. Mundi and Bacara led their forces during the battle until Order 66 was communicated to clone forces. The Executive Order Code commanded the Republic's clone forces to eliminate their Jedi officers. Mundi was killed by the 21st Nova Corps,[6] which then proceeded to eliminate Confederate forces.[13]
