The zand was a type of tree that was found on Dorin,[1] a dark and dusty planet of mountains, plateaus, and valleys located in the Expansion Region's Deadalis sector. Dorin had a highly stormy atmosphere composed of helium and another, unique gas.[2] The zand was frequently used to obtain building materials,[1] and members of the planet's native Kel Dor species[2] eventually came to use the tree's name as a family name.[1]

The zand was mentioned in Peter Schweighofer and J.D. Wiker's 2003 Wizards of the Coast Star Wars Roleplaying Game sourcebook Galactic Campaign Guide.[1]
