Zana Gatta was a human gambler who was invited to compete in a Kessel Sabacc tournament hosted by the casino cruiser Morenia in 3 ABY.

Biography

Racking up debts

Before and during 3 ABY,^[2] Zana Gatta was a gambler that ran up debts with the Pyke Syndicate, the Hutt Clan and Crimson Dawn. She was eventually invited to a Kessel Sabacc tournament aboard the Morenia^[1] that was held in 3 ABY.^[2] A cycle before the tournament, she was was kicked out of the Oseon Belt for trying to palm the disc during a gaamja match. A few days before the tournament, she was at the Slag Pit on Nar Shaddaa after changing her hair color to white.^[1]

Egg on the Morenia

In 3 ABY,^[2] she was invited to be one of six players to compete in a Kessel Sabacc tournament where the grand prize included the encrypted coordinates to the legendary moon Okala Five. While aboard the Morenia she was assigned room D-34 and ran up a tab of 12,406 credits by the time the tournament was to start. During this time, a Trandoshan working for the Hutt Clan was looking for Gatta, who owed a sizeable debt to the cartel. A Mon Calamari bookie aboard the ship was offering 9–to–2 odds on Gatta winning but still considered her a personal favorite to win, noting that she was the type of person that could pull out an upset victory.^[1]

During the same time as the tournament, a Pyke Syndicate member named Chrephontis entrusted an operative with the transport of a rare Verillian Egg. They rented out a VIP suite to store the egg and were instructed to bring it to another member of the syndicate named Choja who would conduct the sale of the egg to a buyer.^[1]

In order to afford the over 700,000 credit buy in for the tournament, Gatta approached Crimson Dawn about stealing the egg from the Pykes and delivering it to the Dawn. Crimson Dawn accepted the deal, noting in a message that in exchange for the egg, the Dawn would finance her buy-in and cancel her past debts with them. Gatta then set up a business meeting in her cabin with the Pyke that was transporting the egg. When the Pyke arrive she knocked them out, stole the key to their suite, and locked them in her cabin's refresher. She went to the Pyke's suite and broke open the case that was carrying the egg. While waiting by to delivered the egg to Crimson Dawn, Gatta was approached by Kay Vess, a scoundrel who blackmailed her with knowledge of the egg theft in exchange for her invitation to the tournament and some additional credits. Gatta reluctantly turned over her invitation knowing that if casino security became aware of the theft she would be killed.^[1]

Personality and traits

Zana Gatta changed her appearance often. During the Okala Five sabacc tournament, she had medium length white hair, blue eyes and light skin. While aboard the Morenia she wore a light green patterned undershirt with a shiny green vest and matching green pants.^[1]

The tournament invite that Gatta hands over to Vess spells her name in aurebesh as "Zana Gata" with only one "t".

Behind the scenes

Zana Gatta first appeared in the "Wild Card" expansion for the Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws,^[1] which was released on November 21, 2024.^[3]
