YIN-762 was a B1 battle droid who served as a commander in the Droid Army of the Trade Federation. In 32 BBY, YIN-762 was in command of a base outside the city Spinnaker on Naboo during the Trade Federation's invasion of the planet.[2]
During the invasion of Spinnaker, the command battle droid OOM-9 sent Neimoidian traders, a type of repulsorcraft, from his base[6] to the spaceport in YIN-762's base[2] to trade for nova crystals, which could be used as currency. By trading with the base and destroying Spinnaker's spaceports, OOM-9 was able to achieve Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray's objective of securing 10,000 nova crystals.[6]
Like all B1-Series battle droids, YIN-762 was 1.91 meters tall[3] and had masculine programming.[4] It wielded an E-5 blaster rifle[5] and had a backpack equipped with an antenna. The droid had light tan plating with brown markings.[2]
Behind the scenes
YIN-762 first appeared in the 2001 LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds. Its name is given as the player's ally in "Spinnaker's Spoils," the third level of the Trade Federation campaign, although it does not physically appear in the level. YIN-762 is also a unique unit that the player can utilize in the game's scenario editior. The droid's profile image and model are identical to that of other battle droid commanders in the game. In scenarios, YIN-762's model has differences from its profile image, with the tan color seen on other B1-Series battle droids present on its head and parts of its limbs, while the color of the player's alignment is featured on its chest and legs.[2]
