The YG-5000 light freighter was a design in the successful YG-series transport line developed by the Corellian Engineering Corporation, many centuries before the Galactic Civil War. Three main sublight engines were mounted to the YG-5000, similar in arrangement to the engines of the Consular-class space cruiser.[1]
Reflecting the customizable design philosophy of CEC, it was relatively simple to make extensive modifications to YG-series ships - for example, swapping the engines of a YG-5000 onto the forward hull of a YG-4210. This modularity allowed refurbished YG-series ships to serve for centuries.[1]
