- "Mr. Solo, I am Brother Xando. My sect and I are on a pilgrimage to Norclune, the holy planet. We seek passage on your ship."
- ―Xando
A sentient species had horns, toothed mandibles, and glossy dark eyes. In 0 BBY, six members of the species who were part of the Norclu Order were seeking to undergo a pilgrimage from the planet Tatooine to the world of Norclune. They attempted to arrange transportation with the smuggler Han Solo; however, he refused the aliens' request.
Biology and appearance
A sentient species had reddish brown skin, an upright body plan, and two arms with three-digit hands. Members of the species had two large, dark red, glossy eyes and, in the lower front section of their face, a pair of mandibles that had opposing rows of teeth. Additionally, the aliens had a pair of downward-facing outgrowths on each side of their head and four smaller ridges on their forehead. Two partially curved gray horns crowned the top of the aliens' head.[1]
Society and culture
Members of the species' society identified as belonging to at least one—male—gender.[1]
Xando's species in the galaxy
- "We were praying that you would bestow the trip as a gift to the Living Force—once upon Norclune you and your ship shall be blessed."
- ―Xando, about the members of the Norclu Order to Han Solo
Xando acted as the spokesman for the Norclu Order members' attempt to negotiate passage to Norclune.
In 0 BBY,[2] six members of the species, including the Galactic Basic Standard–speaking Brother Xando, were part of the Norclu Order and were present at[1] the Mos Eisley settlement on the planet Tatooine of the Outer Rim Territories' Arkanis sector.[3] Seeking to undergo a pilgrimage to[1] the Colonies[4] planet Norclune, Xando and their fellow members of the order attempted at Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina to negotiate passage aboard the starship of the Human smuggler Han Solo. However, the smuggler refused the aliens' request due to them being unable to pay for transportation as well as due to[1] him[3] not sharing the order's beliefs.[1]
Behind the scenes
Xando's species appeared in "Smuggler's Blues," a comic story written by the Fillbach Brothers and included in the fourteenth issue of the Star Wars Tales comic-book series by Dark Horse Comics,[1] published on December 11, 2002.[5] Plausible stories in the first through twentieth issue of Star Wars Tales were deemed S-canon until referenced in a non-Tales source, at which point the subject matter was elevated to C-canon status.[6]
