The XL-5 Guardian force reconnaissance ship was a class of starship manufactured by Tion Mil/Sci Industries. During the Galactic Civil War, it was used by the Galactic Empire's Imperial Army and Imperial Security Bureau. The XL-3c Guardsman Patrol Airspeeder was the civilian law enforcement version of the XL-5.[1]

The XL-5 Guardian force reconnaissance ship was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in No Disintegrations,[1] a 2017 supplement for the Star Wars: Edge of the Empire roleplaying game published by Fantasy Flight Games.[2] It originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity as the Guardian-class patrol ship,[3] and first appeared in Dark Empire 4: Confrontation on the Smugglers' Moon,[4] the fourth issue of the Star Wars: Dark Empire series of comic books, released on June 23, 1992 and published by Dark Horse Comics.[5]
