Battle of Iridonia
As far as I can tell, the entire article is fanon. This is the only info ever given about the Iridonians during the Mandalorian Wars:
- "The war went poorly before Revan and the Jedi lent aid to the Repulblic. Many of us believed the Jedi to be cowards who were afraid to face the Mandalorian threat. [...] I remember when word of the Mandalorian attack arrived on Iridonia. My people had colonies across the Outer Rim. Many of them were among the first systems to fall. [..] I did not join because I wanted to protect though. I hated them. I wanted to destroy them – to give them the mercy they gave the people they conquored. I remember the thrill I felt when we fought them in battle. Victories were rare, but we celebrated every Mandalorian death."

- While I find it disputable that the Mandalorians attacked Iridonia directly, I think the article should be kept. If nothing else, we will have to change the title and some keywords in the article to get a factually accurate overview of Bao-Dur's description of the events. (I had also written in the Comments section why I find the Bao-Dur quote ambiguous. - TopAce 08:47, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Move and rewrite

The problem with rewriting the article is that nothing else is known about the event except for the information given in the quote above. Would a single sentence stub about a completely obscure event really be notable enough? --Sentry [Talk] 07:38, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- The Bao-Dur quote is somehow ambiguous for me: it says news arrived on Iridonia about Mandalorain attacks, this suggests (at least to me) that on Irigonia, they heard about the Mandalorian attacks, which does not mean they attacked Iridonia directly. I am still considering whether I should vote for keep or deletion because of this. Anyway: I edited some minor things in the article, for those who voted to delete it, please take a look at it once again. - TopAce 08:44, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- The ambiguity of the Bao Dur quote is at the very core of my problem with the article. Obviously the anon that created the article did not remember Bao's words correctly, but even pasted verbatim, the description of the event is extremely vague. That is why I think that there is no reason for this article. As I argue below, even if the article is entirely rewritten and corrected, it cannot be expanded in any meaningful way beyond what is stated in the Mandalorian Wars article.--Sentry [Talk] 09:54, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
Alright, I will dissect the article:
| The Battle of Iridonia was one of the first battles of the Mandalorian Wars in which the Mandalorians led by an unknown leader, who invaded Iridonia. The Iridonians were known to be great warriors, thus the Mandalorians sought honor in defeating them. Led by Jedi commanders Revan, Malak, and the Jedi Exile, the Republic pushed back the assault and achieved victory. However, many civilians and Jedi (as well as a number of Republic soldiers)were killed. This battle brought forth the seeking of revenge among many Iridonians, including Bao-Dur and was a battle of retribution for the genocide and defeat at the Battle of Cathar. |
- There is no evidence that the Mandalorians invaded Iridonia or that they ever even planned to do so.
- Revan and company could not have been involved in the supposed conflict because the Jedi had not yet entered the war.
- The Battle of Cathar took place much later in the war. According to the NEC, Revan led a faction of the Jedi to war only after that latter battle.
If we eliminated all this fanon and speculation, we can condense the text down to this:
| The Conquest of Zabrak Colonies along the Outer Rim by invading Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders served as an opening skirmish to the Mandalorian Wars. In response to the Mandalorians' unprovoked aggression, many infuriated Zabrak, including a gifted tech specialist named Bao-Dur, enlisted in the Republic military seeking vengeance. |
Yet, every bit of this information is already included in my rewrite of the Mandalorian Wars article. It seems pointless to repeat it here.–Sentry [Talk] 09:31, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
- That's a good rewrite, even if the info is redundant. We may want to keep it anyway, in case the new KOTOR comics give enough info for expansion. We should also add a sentence or two pointing out that they attempted to liberate the colonies (and since the Republic won the war, we can safely assume they did eventually.) —Silly Dan (talk) 03:38, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
