7,500,000,000 BBY
Fanon. Timeline gold merely hypothesizes this date: there is no evidence whatsoever in any canon source--The Erl of the Votes for deletion/7,500,000,000 BBY talk What I do 19:18, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

- Canon source = "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." The Whills are apparently meant to be telling us this. Adamwankenobi 19:41, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

- There's no need for an article with this title. Only one thing, which might not have even happened during this year, occured. Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision)

- And now, fanon article, you will die. "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." refers to the formation of the universe? No. Just no. There's nothing to even vaguely suggest this. Not to mention, "A long time ago" could hardly be less specific in terms of an exact date. Red XIV 23:16, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

- The "A long time ago" quote refers to the events in the movies, games, stories, etc. Not the creation of the Galaxy.
- I quote Nathan Butler: "Various sources, including the Essential Guide to Alien Species tell us that this event takes place at 5,000,000,000 BSW4, but since the formation of the Yavin system is listed in the Star Wars Encyclopedia an entire 2.5 billion years before that date, I am forced to simply use the Yavin date with a “+” for the creation moment, seeing as how it isn’t logical for the Yavin system to form and then have the Big Bang take place, as LFL would seem to be suggesting in their editorial slip-up." Adamwankenobi 22:03, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
- Then this date is COMPLETELY wrong, as it represents the (contested) formation of the Yavin system, and I need not say that the sort of elements needed to produce Yavin and its moons would not exist until several stellar generations after the Big Bang. In other words, the big bang entry should be removed, and replaced with the Yavin one.
- As I have already said in the talk page for "Pre-Republic": The big bang is completely canon. See the Tales of the Jedi Sourcebook, Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game 2nd Edition and The Essential Guide to Alien Species. Also worth noting is that according to Star Wars Episode I: Incredible Locations, Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina and Shield of Lies, the galaxy was formed on 5,000,000,000 BBY. --UVnet 05:43, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
- Of course the big bang is canon, but the date certainly isn't (and as Timeline Gold mentions, it is contested). Until and unless the debate is resolved (and I suspect it will never be), there is no point in keeping the article, unless it is with extreme caveats (e.g. According to some hypotheses, the big bang occurs)--The Erl of the Votes for deletion/7,500,000,000 BBY talk What I do 00:50, 24 April 2006 (UTC)
