Trak is, and always has been, on top of things, be it correcting minor problems as she drifts effortlessly from random page to random page, or be it participating and voting in article status discussions with regularity. But it is her propensity to be the first responder to issues of vandalism that make her most worthy of this set of tools. She is often first to report of vandalism in progress or to request an article's protection when it is needed. She has been diligent in all of these activities for years, and in that time, I have never seen her have an unconstructive discussion with another user.   7. Long overdue. Trak is always on the wiki, almost at what seems like a moment's notice. She operates on and represents the wiki with fair judgement and interaction with its users, accurate and detailed article creation, as well as having an affinity for creative projects.   1. Why do you want to become an administrator? Mainly due to when I'm active, which is oftentimes at an hour when others are heading to bed and still others are just starting their days. Often, there had been those who exploited that period of time, and I feel that I could cover that shift with some overlap. I have had over a year's prior experience on SWFanon and still am an active administrator there.
  2. In your opinion, what is the role of an administrator? An administrator's role is a bit hard to explain, as it really depends on one's stance. Having been one on forums prior and on SWFanon, my stance on it hasn't really changed. Administrators are still users, however they just have extra options. They should still continue to act as users regardless of whatever level of power they may have achieved, and should maintain a level of professional distance in regards to conflict, i.e: one should not be personally invested in a conflict with another user. To allow one's personal feelings to cloud their judgment would result in rash impulse decisions. Also, one should keep in mind that despite the options now available to them, they should remember that they are still mortal and thus as prone to lapses in judgment as the rest of us. One should not allow it to go to their head. With great power comes great responsibility.
  3. In your view, do administrators hold a technical or political position? I personally see it as more of a technical maintenance position, much like watching over a very busy computer lab. You're there to make sure everything is running smoothly and people get along.
  4. How do you feel admins should use their power/stand in comparison with other users? Only when absolutely necessary. If one throws their power around to get what they want, it is abuse. Admins were users first and they should remember their roots. If a situation can be handled in a peaceful, civil manner, go that route, first.
  5. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? Not that I can remember off-hand. There was a situation with a vandal on SWFanon, though.
    • How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future? I dealt with it in a decidedly fast logical manner. The situation involved an image vandal and there were no admins online at the time. I, thus, spent a couple hours reverting the damage until an admin was able to put a stop to the vandalism permanently. It was a hectic night, but things were handled without further incident.
  6. Of your articles or contributions to Wookieepedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why? I gotta say, after five months of work, I'm pretty happy with how Zuckuss looks (aside from the new source that I plan to acquire shortly). And over a year's work went into Gand, which I'm still working on. 4-LOM's article as well, after three months of clean-up and expansion. Two kept their featured status, and the third is on the road to achieving FA.
  7. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with? Deletion of obvious nonsense, fanon, vandalism, and general upkeep. Also, purging the image cache every time a new file version is uploaded. Basically, what I do on SWFanon. Oh yes, if a situation calls for it, there will be blocks. However, I will continue to do what I've been doing prior and attempt to resolve it through Talk page messages first.
  8. How important is it for you to be involved in things such as CT, FA, GA, and other community-centered items that involve discussion and voting? As an admin is still a user, they should still be as active as they can be in community things. Just because their name is highlighted in green doesn't make them any different.
  9. Do you think admins performing actions (I.e. deletions, blocks, etc.) for reasons not covered on policy should be sanctioned/punished? If so, how? It would depend on the situation. If an admin is using their power to essentially terrorize a user into submission, then they should be brought forth on those charges in the proper manner. If they have a history of such actions, then one should call into question whether they should keep their administrating rights. The outcome would thus be determined via consensus.
  10. What is your policy, if any, of welcoming new users? Should you welcome a new user, do you look at his/her contributions beforehand? I look at contributions first. On a forum I moderate, the majority of users who join are, suffice to say, bots. And still others join but never become active. If someone joins, I'll drop the customary welcome message on their Talk page, but I would prefer to see if they plan to become active, first. If I were to make a relative guess, about 1 out of every 10 users actually become active, based on my observations.
    • What about anonymous IPs? If they are particularly active, I will invite them to join.
  11. How would you react if someone undeleted an article you'd mistakenly speedied? I would shrug and move on. It was my fault, I got hasty. The problem was rectified, why dwell on it?
    • Under what circumstances would you consider it appropriate to undelete an article mistakenly speedied by another administrator, if any, and how would you approach this task? If it was an obvious mistake, say that administrator didn't have the source for an article and thought it to be fanon, and if I happened to have the source, I would recreate the article, format it properly, and add its source and call it a day.
  12. How would you react if your user page was vandalized? I'd revert the vandalism. Sure, I'd mutter to myself, but that would be about it.
    • Under what circumstances would you block the offender? It would depend on the vandalism. If it was a personal attack, I would warn accordingly. If the vandalism continues, then a block will be issued in accordance to the policy.
    • Is there anything else that you would do in this situation? I'd also protect my page, as obviously, it would be a vandalism target.
  13. Under what circumstances would you consider blocking an established user? I would treat it as I would a new or anonymous user; issue appropriate warnings and if the action continues, block according to policy. No single user is above another. Not even the staff, suffice to say. Consequences would be dealt with just the same as anyone else.
  14. If you could change any one thing about Wookieepedia, what would it be? Find a way to permanently ditch Oasis. =P Just kidding, I actually can't think of anything aside from a new background that I need to get off my butt and finish making.
  15. Would you look at a glass to be half-empty or half-full? Honestly, it would depend on my mood that day. For the most part, that glass is half-full of the life blood known as caffeine.
  16. Do you feel the current blocking policy is too restrictive, not restrictive enough, or OK as it is? Having glanced through it a few times, I feel it's fine. I'll let you in on a bit of a secret, I personally think that SWF's policy could take some cues from it. =P
  17. Have you ever considered becoming a regular visitor to the Wookieepedia IRC chat? I'm there right now.
  18. How do you feel about people who already have some influence on other Star Wars communities (TheForce.Net, StarWars.com) trying to change policies here? Honestly, I've only seen this to be a problem with new users who hop on and decide that they want to change everything.
  19. How many clones do you think fought in the Clone Wars? (Note: You are wrong no matter what answer you give.) Far too many. I won't even go into the ethical implications of it.
  20. Who is the most awesome Jedi of all time? (Note: The only correct answer is Kyle Katarn.) Gotta go with Kyle. The guy has guts. And doesn't display the inherent arrogance that Jedi sometimes have. At least from what I remember.
  21. What's more important to you: consensus or policy? Policy. As much as I hate to admit it, policy overrules Han shot first.
  22. Have you had any previous leadership experience (in your community, on the web, etc.)? Plenty. Former administrator of the Megaman Network, former administrator of Planet Megaman, former administrator of Megaman Community, active global moderator on Rockman Perfect Memories, active administrator on SWFanon, to name a few.
  23. What is your attitude towards users who have quit the site or have been banned, but still continue to attempt to influence the site in any way? Haven't seen such things personally, so I can't say. I do, however, keep in touch with some former users. Why should the consequences of their actions matter outside of the wiki? I see no reason to stop associating with people I call friends due to a SNAFU.
  24. What is your wiki philosophy? Well, the recurring trend in this questionnaire has been that "Admins are users, too," so I guess it would need to be that.
