Questions
  1. Why do you want to become an administrator?
    • I crave POWAAAHHH! I mean, er... Honestly, I guess I'd be better able to take care of tasks that I already do. I'm always tagging redundant images for deletion, or moving articles to more properly formatted names, etc. Sysop power would just help me carry those things out without having to bother another admin to finish them.
  2. In your opinion, what is the role of an administrator?
    • To me, an admin is just a Wookieepedian who is entrusted with special controls to use to keep the site running smoothly.
  3. In your view, do administrators hold a technical or political position?
    • A bit of both, I'd say. Technical in that they can take care of things that a regular user cannot; political in that they do have more responsibility.
  4. How do you feel admins should use their power/stand in comparison with other users?
    • I'm not exactly sure what this question is asking... but I think admins should use the tools they have to make the site better, just as regular users should.
  5. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
    • Oh sure, I've had disagreements before, but I don't think I've ever been uncivil. There will always be somebody with the opposite viewpoint; we just have to try to work together for the betterment of the site. Wookieepedia is just a fun project that we all work on; there should never be a reason for users to call other people names.
  6. Of your articles or contributions to Wookieepedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
    • I like to joke that while I'm one of the site's top editors (as far as edit count goes), I'm one of the least active contributors, content-wise (since most of my work is maintenance, not writing). But I have written a few articles I'm proud of, like Laze Loneozner (which was recently deemed a Good Article), Joh Yowza, and Giles Durane. Aside from that, I think one important contribution was getting the "Unused images deletion" project off the ground. For months, I had constantly gone through and tagged images for deletion. Then after a while, I proposed the idea of deleting them in round, and with help from Imp and Culator, it really took off.
  7. What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with?
    • Deleting duplicate images, useless images, old versions of images, etc. Also, I'll keep an eye out for vandals, and block them when needed.
  8. How important is it for you to be involved in things such as CT, IDrive, FA, and other community-centered items that involve discussion and voting?
    • I think it's very important. CTs can shape the policies of the site, and I always try to vote in those. The Improvement drive is a big one for me, because I'm the one who updates it every week. I've been very disappointed with the decline of activity there in recent months, and I'd love to see more participation in it. FA, I admit, I only participate in sometimes, because I generally avoid parts of articles that cover books I haven't read. And if I haven't read major parts of an article, I don't feel right voting for it as an FA.
  9. Do you think admins performing actions (I.e. deletions, blocks, etc.) for reasons not covered on policy should be sanctioned/punished? If so, how?
    • I think it's important to remember that no one is above the law (or, in this case, policy). If an admin is using sound judge for something that just isn't covered in a policy, and other admins agree, then I don't really see a problem. But if an admin is ever clearly out of line, of course they should be called on it.
  10. What is your policy, if any, of welcoming new users? Should you welcome a new user, do you look at his/her contributions beforehand? What about anonymous IPs?
    • I admit, I rarely welcome new users, often because SFH takes care of most of them. ;-) I do usually check a new user's contributions, though, as you can't always trust them to be correct. But it is important to assume good faith and to not bite the newbies. I think we all need to be more welcoming towards new users, myself included.
  11. How would you react if someone undeleted an article you'd mistakenly speedied? Under what circumstances would you consider it appropriate to undelete an article mistakenly speedy'd by another administrator, if any, and how would you approach this task?
    • If it's an obvious mistake, and I realized it later, of course it wouldn't be a problem. And the other way around, I might undelete and explain it to the admin if it wasn't completely obvious. Mistakes happen, and if we just keep our intentions clear, there shouldn't be any problems.
  12. How would you react if your user page was vandalized? Under what circumstances would you block the offender? Is there anything else that you would do in this situation?
    • My page has been vandalized on a several occasions, and I usually laugh rather than take it personally. As for punishment of the user, I'd just treat my own page as I would anyone else's. If it's clearly vandalism, you warn them and/or block them, depending on the severity of the situation.
  13. Under what circumstances would you consider blocking an established user?
    • I'd certainly do so with great consideration, and said user would have to be clearly out of line. Also, I’d definitely consult with other admins. But I think it’s important that no one be above rules. And personal attacks are never cool.
  14. If you could change any one thing about Wookieepedia, what would it be?
    • Besides bringing back optional link underlines? I think misspelling "Wookiee" should be a ban-able offense (if only for 5 minutes or so). And I'm only half-kidding there.
  15. Would you look at a glass to be half-empty or half-full?
    • I'm usually an optimistic guy. Half full, I say.
  16. Do you feel the current blocking policy is too restrictive, not restrictive enough, or OK as it is?
    • I think it's OK as is.
  17. Have you ever considered becoming a regular visitor to the Wookieepedia IRC chat?
    • I consider myself one now. However, for nearly my first year here, I almost never visited the chat room. But the last few months, whenever I plan on being on the site for more than a few minutes, I drop into there. It's fun, and often helpful.
  18. How do you feel about people who already have some influence on other Star Wars communities (TheForce.Net, StarWars.com) trying to change policies here?
    • Is this really a problem here? Of course I think we all should be looking out for Wookieepedia here, not other sites. But I will say that we need to be very mindful of Lucasfilm, as they are the ones who allow us to exist. I know some users often criticize sites like TFN for "caving in to LFL's demands," but I think we need to keep in mind that it's George's sandbox we're all playing in, after all.
  19. How many clones do you think fought in the Clone Wars? (Note: You are wrong no matter what answer you give.)
    • One clone: the clone of Jango Fett. Ha!
  20. Who is the most awesome Jedi of all time? (Note: The only correct answer is Kyle Katarn.)
    • Don-Wan Kihotay.
  21. Are you or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?
    • Yes, on about four different occasions. Funny story, actually. Ask me about that again sometime. ;-)
  22. What's more important to you: consensus or policy?
    • I think it is good when we all agree as much as possible, but it can't always happen. And we should always follow policy, unless there is a consensus that we shouldn't, in which case we should try to get a consensus on a new policy... oh, they're both important!
  23. Have you had any previous leadership experience (in your community, on the web, etc.)?
    • Co-editor of my yearbook for my senior year of high-school. Does that count? :-P
