- It was genuinely disheartening when Jaymach, one of our most active admins, chose to divest himself of the position. I'm glad to see he has reconsidered, and I won't be voting against him this time. ;-) jSarek 10:47, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

- is that really a proper reason to support. By that logic, you would be voting support for anyone you don't know who've been nominated for adminship. If you don't know him, how do you know he'd be a boost to the community? (This is supposed to be anti-Jaymach or anything, just so you know)

Neutral
- I'm of two minds about Jaymach. On the one hand, he's active, has access to a lot of sources, and works on things no one else does. He has a proven track record as an admin, albeit a particularly hardline one. On the other hand, none of those tasks particularly require admin power. Also, he's (as he admitted) not particularly welcoming to new users and his antics on IRC can definitely give the wrong impression, not to mention be singularly annoying. I also disapprove of him spamming IRC to get people to vote for him. Atarumaster88

Accepted re-nomination via IRC, following much goading. Gonk (Gonk!) 19:58, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'd really like to hear what Jaymach will be doing differently once he is reinstated. When I met him at CIV, he didn't have anything particularly positive to say about WP. Have his feelings changed? I understand that he has been a major contibutor, and not a bad admin, but the whole quitting business gives me doubts. Honestly, I'd like to see this addressed before I vote one way or another. - User:Graestan/sig 20:08, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- If this reinstatement to Adminship includes, if the rest of the community will indulge me the metaphor, "POWAH in the IRC channel", then this user wouldn't feel very confident in voting for the affirmative.--Goodwood 20:24, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- I expect that most or all of Jaymach's IRC antics are intended humorously. Gonk (Gonk!) 01:36, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

- For the record, I think this whole thing is unnecessary and a bit silly. He wasn't de-adminned through the full procedure, he shouldn't need to be re-adminned through the full procedure. Bureaucracy is bad, mmmkay? But since some people feel the need to drown us in red tape, I'll cast the first admin vote for him. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 20:54, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- I would also like to point out the blatant influence peddling that Jaymach has been engaging in over the IRC channel. And here I thought this was supposed to be a meritocracy...--Goodwood 07:27, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Since when are democracies meritocracies? jSarek 10:27, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
- The amount of abuse I have seen dealt out to those who doubt Jaymach in any way does very little to convince me to vote for him. In fact, serious damage has been done to my opinions of those (especially the admins) involved, and of my opinion of Wookieepedia in general. - User:Graestan/sig 19:46, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- Wait a second, what's going on...When how and why did he stop being an admin? Kuralyov 02:27, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Questions & Answers
- Why do you want to become an administrator?
- Honestly? mostly because I was on before...but if the question is why do I want to become an admin again then I guess it's because I had a change of heart...mostly due to meeting the other admins at CIV. I want to take up the responsibilities again for the same reason as before...to help maintain the site, stop vandalism, and not have to bug other admins to do routine stuff when they have better things to do...oh and I wants my POWAH. :P
- In your opinion, what is the role of an administrator?
- To act as the public face for the site...yes, they perform activities like blocking and deleting, but their real job is to be a public face for the site. Other editors are part of the site, but if you want to go to someone that can actually represent the site then you go to an admin.
- In your view, do administrators hold a technical or political position?
- Political...like I said, they perform technical duties but so does any editor...admins simply have more tools to help with technical things.
- How do you feel admins should use their power/stand in comparison with other users?
- More responsibly...regular users have to stick to the rules, obviously, but admins are meant to set a good example to all others.
- Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- Of course I have...plenty of times. I admit that I'm stubborn, and indeed I argue my point to the very end...but if others can prove me incorrect then I'll happily go with their viewpoint. If, however, it's over article appearance (eg. image placement) then I expect both sides to post screenshots that detail their problems with the page so that an amicable solution can be found for both...if only one side is willing to do so, then the other side should shut up or provide proof.
- Of your articles or contributions to Wookieepedia, are there any with which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- Uh...I don't know really...I like all my ambig articles, but I'm not proud of any specific one...the Kadann and Merili articles are mostly mine...I like those ones, but I wouldn't say they were the peak of Wookieepedia achievement...so I can't really answer the "why"...I just like doing the articles that nobody else can be bothered doing.
- What sysop chores do you anticipate helping with?
- Same as before...as many or as little of them as are required.
- How important is it for you to be involved in things such as CT, IDrive, FA, and other community-centered items that involve discussion and voting?
- CT's, very much seeing as they decide what actions the admins are to perform...IDrive and FA not so much...like I said, I prefer to work on articles that nobody else can be bothered with and both of those ventures are to do with articles others feel the need to edit.
- Do you think admins performing actions (I.e. deletions, blocks, etc.) for reasons not covered on policy should be sanctioned/punished? If so, how?
- It depends on the situation, really...yes to an extent...but I feel that if the reason keeps on coming up again then it should be either added to the policies or brought up in a CT.
- What is your policy, if any, of welcoming new users? Should you welcome a new user, do you look at his/her contributions beforehand? What about anonymous IPs?
- I don't welcome users...I haven't done for quite some time...there's just no need anymore. We have plenty of users that do that already.
- How would you react if someone undeleted an article you'd mistakenly speedied? Under what circumstances would you consider it appropriate to undelete an article mistakenly speedied by another administrator, if any, and how would you approach this task?
- Undelete an article? If it was an article that I had deleted by accident, then I'd be fine with it being undeleted...if, however, it was fanon then I'd request it be deleted again.
- How would you react if your user page was vandalized? Under what circumstances would you block the offender? Is there anything else that you would do in this situation?
- I don't honestly care...it has been plenty of times before...but when I was an admin previously, I locked it...so that won't be a problem if this vote goes through.
- Under what circumstances would you consider blocking an established user?
- If they broke the rules...I don't care if you're an established user or a brand new anon...you follow the rules or you get blocked...it's simple.
- If you could change any one thing about Wookieepedia, what would it be?
- Honestly? I'd get make a rule that articles have to be relevant to Star Wars. I'm fine with having OOU articles up to a point...but when we have articles like Burl Ives which feature next to no information about Star Wars, it saddens me...those kinds of pages should be on the Wikipedia.
- Would you look at a glass to be half-empty or half-full?
- Depends what's in it...if it's alcohol or Irn-Bru then it's already empty...if it's anything else then I've topped it up with whisky.
- Do you feel the current blocking policy is too restrictive, not restrictive enough, or OK as it is?
- Mostly OK as it is...but it needs some improvements like those currently being hammered out in CT's.
- Have you ever considered becoming a regular visitor to the Wookieepedia IRC chat?
- How do you feel about people who already have some influence on other Star Wars communities (TheForce.Net, StarWars.com) trying to change policies here?
- If they try to change them on this site, then I don't care...if they try to change them offsite, then they should go to hell. Site rules can be decided here and here alone.
- How many clones do you think fought in the Clone Wars? (Note: You are wrong no matter what answer you give.)
- I don't care unless it's covered in an ambig source.
- Who is the most awesome Jedi of all time? (Note: The only correct answer is Kyle Katarn.)
- God...that damn well better be a redirect.
- Are you or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?
- No, but I hear they have lovely parties.
- What's more important to you: consensus or policy?
- What a stupid question...policy...consensus decides policy, so policy is consensus.
- Have you had any previous leadership experience (in your community, on the web, etc.)?
- Yes...I was an admin here...look up my previous works. —Jaymach Ral'Tir (talk) 23:21, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
