Request submitted by: X9 The Android

Purpose: Hello everyone. X9 The Android here. I write here to inform all of you that given that Timothy Zahn has been a Star Wars author since the beginning of the modern Expanded Universe and has continued writing for our beloved franchise under the Disney banner, I consider that it would be interesting to interview him so he could give us some insight about his EU work and his new canon work. I have yet to send him an interview request, but he has a Facebook account and I can communicate him from there and perhaps I could convince him to let me interview him.

If Zahn accepts my request, our community can give him our questions about his work and let us know more about the development of his novels maybe for those who plan to one day work for Lucasfilm Ltd. So, what do you think? It's a good idea? X9 The Android (talk) 18:21, October 25, 2018 (UTC)

Discussion

I'm sure that most of you in our community have read at least one of Zahn's novels either from the EU or the new canon. At this discussion space you could submit any questions I could ask them in the interview so he can give us his response, like how he created Rukh, for example. Common pals, we could make one more interview for Wookieepedia and meet another member of the SW family! X9 The Android (talk) 23:25, October 25, 2018 (UTC)

  • Before voicing approval for this personally, I would like to see what questions are going to be posed to Mr. Zahn. Specifically, I would like to see this interview have a practical purpose towards our article content, not just aimlessly interviewing someone because we can. For example, I tried (and failed) to interview this guy because I wanted him to personally confirm his reported unattributed role in The Empire Strikes Back. • Well, some questions, either about the EU and the new canon, could be these: Did Jacen, the friend of your son who inspired you to name Han and Leia's son after him, was an Star Wars fan? Why you decided to create Ruhk and the New Republic? Did you really hated Tom Veitch's Dark Empire in spite of George's approval, but did you and Tom get along? Did it's true that Mara Jade was originally intended to appear in the Special Edition of Return of the Jedi? Which was your original pitch for the Clone Wars before George made Episode II? Did it's true that some elements of The Thrawn Trilogy were meant for the sequel trilogy that George originally planned? Now that you write under the Disney banner, did Lucasfilm have placed any vetos? Any ideas from your original drafts for Thrawn and Thrawn: Alliances aside from the deletion of the 501st Legion that didn't make it into the final draft? Did you liked Chuck Wendig's Aftermath Trilogy? Did you have ever been offered to write an Indiana Jones novel and if that hasn't been the case did you would like to write one in the future? That style of questions, my man ;) X9 The Android (talk) 19:35, October 27, 2018 (UTC)
    • Me personally, if I may chime in, I would like to ask him if he gave Pellaeon's place in the new canon some thought as the character was reintroduced to canon in the Star Wars Rebels finale, or even have plans to use the character in his future projects. • Regarding your "Legends" works, it was really great seeing some continuity nods to old and obscure Star Wars sources there. Few people know about Crimson Jack stealing Han Solo's reward money, so seeing that event referenced in Scoundrels was just awesome. Were there any other similar events/characters that you wanted to reference in any of your works, but that did not make it into the final draft? • These questions seem good, so long as the grammar is fixed :P I'd also want to ask about the possibility of a third entry in the canon Thrawn series, although I expect he wouldn't be able to talk about that. Tommy Imperial Emblem Macaroni 18:25, October 28, 2018 (UTC)
    • Okay, so a few questions from me. Given that you were instrumental in helping to create what we know today as the Expanded Universe of Star Wars, what are your feeling about the direction the series has now taken in expanding the story post Return of the Jedi in the new canon? What was it like for you, watching the character of Thrawn, who had previously appeared in novels, making the leap to the television screen? Were you a fan of and/or generally aware of Star Wars Rebels prior to the character's appearing in the series? On your page at Wookieepedia, it lists a number of projects you were considering prior to Disney's acquisition of the franchise. Is it safe to say that all of those are off the table now? Outside of that, would you be interested in doing any future stories set in the Star Wars franchise not involving the character of Thrawn, perhaps involving Luke Skywalker? • Questions: Was Mara Jade originally from Emberline? If so, then if Mara Jade was not kidnapped as a child, would she have grown up on Emberlene and become a Mistryl Shadow Guard??? -- Frank V Bonura 13:20, November 5, 2018 (UTC)
    • I heard somewhere that the Noghri were originally intended to be the Sith species...I'd like to ask him what he knows about that. Also, what does he think the relationship between the mainline Imperial Military and the regular Planetary defense forces are, given that they were included in Thrawnunder the control of local Imperial governors, while Pryce and other governors in other canon media exercise control over the stormtroopers and other personnel stationed on their worlds. Fan26 (Talk) 17:57, November 9, 2018 (UTC)
      • Timothy Zahn answered that question in his interview in the Star Wars Adventure Journal. -- Frank V Bonura 15:41, November 14, 2018 (UTC)
  • More Questions: I had two questions about Mara Jade: By the Emperor's Hand. Is the planet Qiaax the Jeodu homeworld? Is "Jeodu" a play on the word "geode" due to the Bubble Cliffs resembling enormous geodes? -- Frank V Bonura 15:39, November 14, 2018 (UTC)

Were Clyngunn, Jorj Car'das, and Ord Pardron named after Star Trek's Klingon and Cardassian species and the Transformers' planet Paradron? 71.121.143.15 11:37, December 1, 2018 (UTC)
