- The Seyn Marana date should be changed to 0 ABY since that was post Yavin. Would also note that the Thane scene is in the same year since it's post Death Star being destroyed and his defection (Star Wars Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to a Galaxy Far, Far Away puts this in 0 AWS4). I almost feel as if an image of Jyn as a child would be more illustrative since the body is describing her as a young girl and such, and 13 BBY is closer to that timeframe than her later appearance.—spookywillowwtalk 03:43, 26 September 2024 (UTC)- I started out with that but realized this: there are two mentions of Jyn with the milk, one of her at 13 yrs old with Saw and one of her at 16 yrs old on her own at Five Points. So instead of representing a 13 yr old Jyn with a 4 yr old photo, I went for a photo of 22 yr old Jyn to represent the Five Points part, where she is about 17. That feels more accurate to me. Another consideration I had would be to use a FOD image to be as close as possible to 17, but those images are more action shots and less portrait-y so I went with the nearest-aged portrait-type photo. - That would make sense. But, the math isn't quite adding up for me—Jyn's page says she was born in 21 BBY, so in 13 BBY, she'd be 8 years old. If that scene (per the date note on the page) happens immediately following Lyra's death, would Jyn in that moment not be more-or-less exactly as she looked in the film's scenes when Galen is taken/Lyra dies? I believe she would have been eight years old then (21-13=8). If it was a difference between 4 and 13 I'd agree that wouldn't really work since humans look very different between toddler and teenager, but it's more of an 8:8 and then later on the other appearance.—spookywillowwtalk 17:48, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
- The reason I said 4 was because the image option I initially considered of young Jyn was one of her at 4 yrs old (for 13 I think I just said the year instead of her age on accident because you're right, she would be 8 at that time). But I see what you mean. If I used an image of 8 yr old Jyn from the opening sequence on Lah'mu then that would be the most accurate. I'll check to see if there's any decent shots of her face. - Hmm I personally don't think there's a great choice from the scenes with 8 yr old Jyn. Every decent shot of her face is like an action shot (teary-eyed, hiding in the grass, etc) and not really a more neutral portrait which is what I feel would be appropriate for this article. Would it be fine to roll with the current image or do you have other ideas? Wok142 (talk) 04:45, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
- Tbf I'm not entirely convinced there's no promotional shots given almost every LA film has portrait style cards or other media. However, I'll resurface that if one is found and uploaded later on so as not to hold the nom up. I'm fine with striking if it's somewhat agreed here we can look at replacing it when one is located next source run. The magazine issues are quite a bore but probably have one, hence why I'd say that—while not worth holding the nom up for—should be in log proper to replace later since I do genuinely feel like the 22 year old depiction is not best for accuracy here; and there are at least some promo shots like this that aren't that bad and don't have others in frame.—spookywillowwtalk 05:43, 29 September 2024 (UTC)
