Objections

  • I think it's still too early. It's a good article, but not featured. At times it is rambling, at times it leaves information out, and throughout the writing is a bit unpolished or unencyclopedic. Patience, young Jedi! --GenkiNeko 01:41, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
  • Part of me hates to do this, but...
  1. I don't think the subdivisions make a lot of sense. Why is the Yuuzhan Vong War categorized under "Establishing a New Jedi Order" but the Second Correlian Insurrection its own heading entirely? The subdivisions need to be worked on considerably and made more logical.
  2. Certain areas don't make sense if you don't know the sources. For example, in the discussion of Kadann, the text jumps from Kadann to the false Kadann without giving an explanation for that.
  3. I think the main picture should be a head shot, not full-length.
  4. I haven't read the article extremely carefully, but my sense is that it probably needs a very careful grammar and spell check. Just skimming through I found several issues (primarily with diction), and more worryingly, an OOU statement.

  • Ok, I'd say my previous objections are resolved. Now that I've done a very careful read-through, I have a few more minor things: the section Trials of the Jedi Master is still sort of weak. The writing is far more choppy than in other sections, and it's divided up into short, nonintuitive passages. It sometimes lapses into a play-by-play. For example, could any of the subsections here be either condensed, shortened, or integrated into one another? It seems that different subsections probably need different remedies. I've done the most general sorts of diction improvements, but I don't know these sources well enough to make a huge difference in terms of organization. Specifically, the sections on Kueller and Waru need improvement (and better titles--but maybe the best way to solve that is combination). And isn't the Waru incident technically part of the Empire Reborn movement via retcon now anyway? Also, having read the Dark Nest sections, in certain places they seem to be less about Luke and his actions then they are about the Dark Nest crisis generally. This should be improved. Finally, if we can't get the portrait-style infobox picture approved, the picture in the Talents section should be changed. - breathesgelatinTalk 05:19, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
    • Sorry to sound like a broken record here, but can we get some more Marvel info integrated? I tried to include the post-RotJ info, but Luke's adventure during and between the films are lacking.           • I worked to try and address breathesgeletin's objections, especially the grammar and Empire Reborn sections, but because I know next to nothing about Marvel and the Dark Nest, I can't really help out there. I count two redlinks in the 'in search for a legacy' section, but I have no knowledge of either of them, so I cannot correct it. I looked around for a pic Luke during the Thrawn crisis, but all I could find was on the Heir to the Empire comic book cover, but it is of a very poor quality. I don't own the comics so I cannot scan a pic in. -Solus 19:22, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

                • My objection regarding Dark Nest still stands; I still think it's covered way out of proportion to its importance in Luke's life. I recently got the 1st and 2nd Dark Nest books and am just about finished with reading them (I already had the 3rd). I will try to see what I can do with it once I finish that.                     • To be honest, I still I feel like the Dark Nest section is still pretty long and out of proportion, but I'm willing to live with that at this point. I went through and made some more cuts and factual corrections and in particular diction fixes. I guess I'll go on and strike my objection now.   • Currently, the "Luke Skywalker as the Monomyth Hero" section reads like original research. The statement in this section saying Lucas referenced The Hero with a Thousand Faces is unsourced. - Sikon 05:10, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

    • Well, I just did some adjustments to the subdivisions- see if they make more sense now. I'm not sure what you mean on the sources, although I wrote the Kadann section and I don't have either of the sources, so I had to use our articles/the databank. Yeah. That could probably use some work from someone who has the sources. As for the pic- all the other major characters use full body shots- see Palpatine, Anakin Skywalker, Leia Organa Solo, Darth Vader, Han Solo, and many, many more.       • Good job on the subdivisions generally, though 1.3 still seems that it needs another subheading--it looks bizarre with only one. You could probably smack something above the first text section just for consistency's sake. What I mean on the Kadann section part is that it skips back and forth between discussing the real Kadann and false Kadann without even explaining that there is a false Kadann... which could be confusing. I know about the full body shots but recently there's been a move to shift to headshots. Let's see if anyone else agrees with me; that one is really a minor thing that may just come down to my personal preference. I wouldn't hold the whole nomination up over that if everything else gets fixed. I vaped the OOU that I saw; it was in the Talents section. Just had me worried that there might be more.   • Well, I went back and fixed the subdivisions- moved one and added three more subsections. I tried to clarify the Kadann section, so I hope that helps.       • Still too many problems for my support. This article reads like a blow-by-blow account "Luke was stopped by Fortuna, then he used a mind trick on him, then he tried to talk to Jabba, then Jabba refused, then Luke used the force to grab a gun from a nearby guard but Jabba used a trap door to send him down to the rancor with one of his guards who got eaten..." It should just be something like: "Luke infiltrated Jabba's palace and tried to convince the crime lord to hand over Han. When Jabba refused, Luke attempted to kill him, only to be sent down into Jabba's secret Rancor pit." Well, that's not great, but still, the article needs condesing. We are an encyclopedia, not an info repository. .... 23:16, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
  • I know the section you are talking about and I've been meaning to smack and rewrite it for some time.       • I've copyedited much of it- including condensing the Endor section and expanding the Thrawn section. I've done up to the Yuuzhan Vong War, but as most of the prose was written by me anyways, someone else should probably look over it. Let me know if anything else needs fixed.   • Good work on this Ataru. However I think there could be some info from Jedi OPutcast and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. Luke was involved in both the sets of events there.
