Imperial Knight

  • Nomination by: User: Menkooroo 21:03, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
  • Nomination comments: Hey everyone. I've been doing a lot of work on this article recently, and I would love to be able to bring it to featured status. Sorry if it seems vain nominating my own article, but I really want it to be the best quality it can possibly be, and so I need you guys to help me out --- if there's anything wrong with it, anything missing, anything at all, let me know. I'm really proud of what I've done so far, but I'll make any necessary changes based on your suggestions. Menkooroo 21:08, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

  1. From the Moffship of Grand Moff Tranner:
    • I haven't read through it yet, but I did notice that a lot of things are unsourced. Every paragraph needs to have at least one reference tag. I'm post any more objections once I read it over. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 23:49, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
    • Every paragraph has to be sourced? If that's the case, I'm more than happy to do it, but here's what I've done: Throughout the "History" section, I've placed a source to the relevant Legacy issue at the end of that issue's info, even if that info takes several paragraphs. I've also placed a source at the end of a subheading's info if that issue carries onto another subheading (for example: Trust Issues Part 1 is sourced twice, as its info falls under both the subheadings "Vendaxa fallout" and "Mission to the Wheel". But if you want me to place a source at the end of every paragraph, I'll do it. I'm just concerned that that will look really cluttered... like, The Hidden Temple Part 1 would end up having twelve sources for it, as I wrote that issue's relevant Imperial Knight info in twelve paragraphs. Wouldn't that look bad? Menkooroo 01:01, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
      • Looking over other featured articles, I realized that no, it doesn't look bad. So I added a source to every paragraph. :^) Menkooroo 01:21, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
  2. There's a link in one the quotes....kill it. DC 23:53, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

  3. Significant technical issue: You've completely ignored Wookieepedia:Sourcing #2.2. I tried to fix this for you, but you completely missed it. I'm not fixing it again. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 01:34, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
    • Hey Darth Culator --- I was making an edit at the same time as you, and accidentally overwrote the changes you made. I realized what I did, and went back and redid your changes. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Menkooroo 01:49, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
  4. The history is way overkill in terms of detail; this is an article about the Imperial Knights as a group, not the stories of their individual members combined. Details should be kept trimmed to those relevant to the group's history. Conversations that aren't pertinent—and the ones that are should be kept trimmed to basic summaries, not so play-by-play—the feelings of Azlyn/Draco/Fel unrelated to the organization, etc. You also have a number of instances of characters recounting information after the fact; for the ones that are relevant and should be kept, that information should be placed in the correct part of the chronology where it occurs, not where it's told. For example, Azlyn joining the IKs should be told around the time it took place, not when she recounts it to Cade et al. The Imperial Knight who left and was killed should be mentioned as part of the history—and in the philosophy section as well—not just when Sia recounts it. A couple assorted other things, for now: there's still unsourced statements in "Organization and philosophy", and "Little is known" in the first paragraph needs to go—we also have some information on their founding, when Ganner talks of their purpose. - Lord Hydronium 01:47, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
    • Excellent points about the info being recounted after-the-fact --- I'll definitely go in there and fix that tomorrow. Is the overkill on the history thing a Wookieepedia policy, or your personal preference? If it's the former, I'm happy to redistribute it to the articles on the proper characters. My reasoning behind doing this was because the IK's are such a small organization. I wouldn't do it for an organization like the Jedi, but since the IK's are pretty small, I figured it wouldn't be a problem. If I'm wrong: like I said, I'm totally willing to redistribute it. Menkooroo 01:54, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
      • The problem is that it's not really relevant to the subject matter. Remember that you're writing about the Imperial Knights; things like what Roan thinks of Cade don't say anything about the Imperial Knights, just about Roan. Size of the group isn't really an issue; even articles on small groups like the Brotherhood of Darkness or Sith Triumvirate would be about their actions as a group, not all their stories independently. For the other matter, play-by-play is discouraged across the wiki as an issue of good encyclopedic writing; as an encyclopedia, we should be summarizing events, not giving all the details of them. - Lord Hydronium 02:30, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
        • Ah, cool. Maybe my ambitions would have been placed better in articles such as Antares Draco, Ganner Krieg, Sigel Dare, et al. Just to make sure I'm catching your drift correctly... something like the attempt on Roan Fel's life by Darth Kruhl could be jettisoned, correct? What about Treis Sinde and Sigel Dare's mission to sabotage the Imperious --- maybe keep in the facts relevant to the organization, such as the fact that an Imperial Knight joined the resistance movement, and that another Imperial Knight spoke with Gar Stazi aboard the Imperious? Menkooroo 02:46, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
          • Yes. Though it's not like you can't give their names; but yeah, those would be the main points to hit. - Lord Hydronium 03:23, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
            • With that in mind, I think I'd like to withdraw this nomination. I want to redistribute all the info I've recorded into the separate character articles, and revamp the history section accordingly. That's definitely a project for more than a week, though. With that said, do you have any comments on the other sections, Hydro? Behind the scenes, powers and abilities... any feedback? Menkooroo 03:27, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
