- A Guide to the Star Wars Universe coins weapons officer and specifically identifies the Y-wing's navigators (obviously seen in Return of the Jedi before that book) as being weapons officers. In terms of treating "weapons officer" and "chief gunnery officer" as not inherently the same except for the literal cases of pirate and privateer chief gunnery officers being interchangeably called weapons officers, I can think of numerous real life cases of inconsistencies where 2 different titles are interchangeable in one situation and separate in another. - Head gunnery officer:
- I have had direct exposure to Tenn Graneet, and the "gunnery chief" is a different position for Graneet's case. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 04:19, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
- From checking things out, only the "head gunnery officer" Fact File issues are chief gunnery officers, and all other listed things (except for the already-included Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels chief gunner information, are different positions.
